Sporades: Sporades is an island complex with scattered islands in the Aegean sea that is actually the meaning of the name. Of course, all islands were and are scattered in the Aegean sea but those that got namesduring ages they were grouped under the Sporades complex;so they were not scattered any more!
Those which were left without a special name are a complex of 4 islands and isles. So we call Sporades and specifically Northern Sporades the island of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos and Skyros that are located to the east of Magnesia and the north of Evia. The largest of all is Skyros with 207 square km, Skopelos with 95s.km, Alonissos with 64s.km and Skiathos with 47.5 s.km. It is a complex of green islands, full of trees that grow all over till the edge of the sea with beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters. Each island has it’s own history and carries it’s special characteristics. The easiest way to visit the islands is by boat or ferry.
